Duran & Aytek "Searching"

Out Now on Baroque Records

After the last release by Tantamanna, celebrating 30 releases on the label, Baroque head to Turkey to pick up this track from Istanbul based production duo Duran and Aytek. Previously having released on labels including Three and Method, the duo have been developing and honing their skills, producing a range of different sounds, including several vocal-led tracks such as this one, 'Searching'

The 'Original Mix' plays on that atmospheric sound that seems to be becoming the trademark from the scene's Turkish contingent. Big sweeps and a drifting groove hold it all together tightly as synths rise out of the groove gradually, before fading back in. The rhythmic percussion pushes forward the main vocal provided by Aytek, affecting the key and impact subtly as each vocal refrain is delivered. A progressive house groover with a cool and emotive edge.

'Evolution' provide a smooth dub interpretation on the flip, keeping the atmospheric vibe of the original intact, and dropping a warbling b-line in which weaves its way over the top, pushing down on the sounds below, thus creating a dark and dubby groove which builds up slowly. As we head towards the outro, the sweeping synths kick in, changing things up a bit, but when it boils down to it, this is a for the late night minded.

Baroque continue to push the cool house sound that they have been developing recently once more, once again highlighting talent who have yet to make a major impact. Expect to hear a lot more of Duran and Aytek in the coming months.
