Desert Feat John Power "Beyond The Sun"

Out Now on Future Groove

For the past ten years or so, the duo of Paul Kane and Paul Pringle have been working together as Desert, with many singles and remixes to their credit. Responsible for the 1995 classic (and recently re-released) 'Moods', in addition to several previous singles for Future Groove. A few months after mixing the Future Groove compilation they team up with John Power of indie group Cast for their latest single, 'Beyond The Sun'.

The 'Main Mix' is a warm house groover that builds itself with use of some deep beats and a tingling piano melody that compliments the swaying groove perfectly. John Power's added vocals bring a mellow soul vibe to the track as his words sink into the warm chords, with his powerful delivery bringing a touch of resonance to the overall track. It's surprising how well John's indie influenced ways blend into the track, and the hypnotic groove is just simply irresistible.

Oddly, 'Brancaccio & Aisher' don't really change things that much, just dropping a chunky bassline and tougher beats in, with an effected slant on the vocal, with occasional vocoder effects. The hypnotic sounds of the original drift in about halfway through and ensure that you will be grooving around the dancefloor as this electronic masterpiece unfolds.

Once again Desert deliver a great single that manages to bridge that divide between the dancefloor and home listening, much like they achieved with the aforementioned 'Moods'. A reminder of how a good house record is done, and hopefully a sign of more to come from this much missed duo.
