DCM "Red Army / Evolver"

Out Now on Sexonwax Recordings

London based dj producer Darren McCormack is the latest artist to join the ranks of Desyn Masiello and Omid 16B's Sex On Wax label, and he does not disappoint. As DCM (not to be confused with the Swain and Snell project of the same name), he comes up with a deep little two tracker indeed that fan's of Omid's work will welcome with open arms.

'Red Army' is perhaps the more menacing of the two, starting off with some mean rumbling drums, with some hypnotic spacey fx bubbling to the surface between each beat pattern, complimenting the sinister bass perfectly. Eerie vocals slide out of the depths of the track, but do not stop it from driving on relentlessly until it has caused some damage. A fresh take on the tribal sound which works well.

'Evolver' is the standout track though. Smooth percussive drums lead in, before a drilling laser stab leads into the chunky bass led main section, with some big drops teasing the big twist to come, as everything crashes out, and a melodic hook slowly rises from the bottom of the groove before floating atop the driving percussion that returns. Energetic claps lift the beats, with some subtle bottom end action bringing one final surprise to keep the momentum at full throttle. Great depth and a killer hook that will make this a winner.

Sex On Wax continue their current form with this single, and with new singles from Omid 16B and Danny Howells to follow, it doesn't look like they plan on letting up anytime soon.
