Christian Cambas "Coded Love"

Out Now on Intrinsic Records

It seems that the Greek movement is very much underway these days within the dance scene. You only have to take a look at the amount of new producers to see this. The last few months have seen Kosmas Epsilon, Nikola Gala and the duo of Stel & Good Newz leave their mark, and another would be Christian Cambas. Upon making his debut on Bedrock with the massive 'It Scares Me', Christian was sprung from a relative unknown into an artist on one of the world's biggest underground label. Since then he's taken it in his stride, with a release on Heavy Rotation recently, which is followed by this new single 'Coded Love' for Intrinsic Records.

Sticking to the big driving template that's served him well to date, Cambas delivers a great 'Original Mix', massive bass and atmosphere dominating this track as it grooves along steadily. Deep percussive rhythms rise up through the layered effects and pads, giving the track great depth and a spacious feel, but also providing a solid hook on which the main vocal rides, adding an interesting twist to this rocking track.

Taking things in a slightly different direction 'Nathan Coles' turning in a stomping tech edged remix, stripping the track right back to its rolling groove and throwing some minimal sounds and effects into the equation, creating a smooth yet glitchy electronic house mix that the tech house and electro fraternity will be all over.

In retrospect, what we have here is a fair offering from Christian Cambas, that like his previous release on Heavy Rotation fails to achieve the things that 'It Scares Me' did. Nevertheless, this is by no means a bad release, but just lacks that ingredient that makes nearly every release on this label so essential.
