Chris Domingo "One Sound"

Out Now on Teknology Records

Florida based Chris Domingo is the latest talent to join Teknology and 'One Sound' is his first release for the label. With the likes of Medway, Mike Hiratzka, Bill Hamel and many other of the US's leading progressive producers all hailing from the state, it's a tough act to follow, but does Chris manage to take the first step to joining them? Let's find out..

Deep house grooves and tight rattling percussion lead us into the 'Original Mix', as Chris Domingo does not delay in dropping in some loops and effects which cause the sounds being laid down to grate over the beats. A series of delays interrupts the beats, allowing the underlying melody to reveal its presence and take the track in a warmer, more techy direction which stops the track from getting monotonous and samey. Tightly produced but overall nothing that you haven't heard before.

The b-side features the first of two mixes from Thomas Penton, with the 'Chugawug Mix' picking up the pace, a tribal influenced percussion line kicking things off straight away. Gently easing off the pressure, warm chords flow and rising synths expand, as a big riff pushes forward within the centre of the groove, going straight through a spacial break and into the outro. Tight, pounding stuff from one of Florida's finest producers.

A further disc of remixes featuring yet another mix from Thomas Penton and another fellow Floridian, Atnarko is available as an addition to these mixes, but be sure to check out the superb 'Chugawug Mix' if you like your records to be of a driving nature.
