Blakkat "Rite Place (Remixes)"

Shaboom return with another 12" of remixes to follow on from the superb original disc of 'Rite Place', with mixes coming from Onionz, Toka and Lil Devious all of whom have storied backgrounds. Each add their own trademark touches to the track and here's what they each produce as a result..

The 'DJ Onionz Mix' pulls out a star turn with it's terrific conga groove and latino piano combination. Aswan's vocals just float softly in cut up fashion over the top, mellow beats and small piano solos keeping the tempo up and the good time vibe flowing. A happy summery reinterpretation that you will most probably hear several times in the coming summer months.

Toka's 'Rite Dub' is worlds apart yet again, utilisting a rough and funky groove which rattles along, cruncy beats and shaker percussion forming a deep groove, with the vocal sounding quite detached from the rest of the track, but this lends itself to the fluctuant production style of the remix very well.

Finally, 'Lil Devious' drops in a pulsating b-line, holds back on the effects and percussion and places the vocal right in the centre of things, only letting the drums in to drive upward, with the dancefloor shaking groove keeping thingts tight. Another well worked outing from Carlisle's finest.

Another varied set of mixes that will widen the appeal of this track even further. Shaboom have really made sure all bases are covered with this, and as such its probably one of the strongest releases on the label in a while. If you're an Onionz or Lil Devious fan you will enjoy this 12"
