Ben Camp "Peyote Dub / Lost My Way"

Out Now on Kubist Recordings

Philly based Ben Camp's profile has increased no end in recent months. Firstly his track 'Timewreck' received lots of support from djs worldwide, as well as inclusion on Chris Fortier's Bedrock cd. From there he has set up his own label Movim with friend and label co-owner Patrick Turner, and most recently the track 'Emergence' was included on Cass's conceptual mix cd, 'Eight'. Not one to rest on his laurels, Ben has capatalised on this and has put together this single for Kubist Recordings.

First up is 'Peyote Dub', an atmospheric edged cut utilising tribal percussive layers and eerie sounds to create a dark yet captivating groove that slowly draws you in as it loops over and over. Halfway through, a rippling effect rises through the centre of the track, bringing in all manner of twisted sounds, keeping the mood distinctly sinister which adds to the commanding presence of this deep track.

Over on the other side is the breakbeats of 'Lost My Way', a shaking groove and tight beats forming the main nucleaus of this upbeat track. Starting off gently, a shapeshifting bassline affects the beats, noises sifting thru the gaps as each beat layer drops in harder and harder. Busy production and a driving pace ensure this will go down well with both the breaks purists and the more progressive minded crew too.

A tight little release from Kubist, with yet more on the way from Momu, in addition to label co-owner Ben Shaw. Watch this space as they say..
