Avus "Fancy Arse"

Out Now on Perc Trax

Following on from a tremendous single on Border Community, and two equally as essential cuts for the slightly off the wall US label Poodle, Scott Edwards returns with his latest offering as Avus, as the long awaited 'Fancy Arse' makes its appearance on promising new label Perc Trax. Delayed due to to various reasons and much red tape, the track also sees James Holden on hand with a remix that has occasionally featured in his sets for quite some time, and appears here as one of the few remixes from him in the last few months.

The 'Original Mix' is a minimal 303 style acid track, simmering slowly as it builds, developing into a dark and twisted trip for the dancefloor. Big stabs and beats lead toward a hypnotic echoing section where the sounds resonate louder and louder, and the evil within is unleashed as Avus whips up an impressive zoned out epic here.

And if it couldn't get any crazier, the 'James Holden Sunday Night Extension' grabs the original by the balls and takes it to another level. A wild and glitchy reinterpretation, this slow burner of a mix may take a while to get going but when the pads start to layer into the groove, watch as this erupted into a frenzied blur of wonderful electronic sounds.

'Fancy Arse' hasn't aged one bit even though it's taken some time to come to us. It's still very much 'now', and just goes to prove how much of a forward thinking approach Avus has when it comes to his music. If you're a Border Commie or a lover of quality off the wall music, then this is very much something for you, and should not be missed.
