Alex Dolby "Obsessive Sound"

Out Now on Mantra Vibes

Italian born Alex Dolby makes his return with Obsessive Sound, and there's no mucking around with this track. Just straight to business from the moment the first beat drops. A track with such force and pure direction is what has come to be expected from Dolby, with an impressive back catalogue of singles including the massive Hazy Way and Psiko Garden.

The two mixes presented on the vinyl remain true to a similar theme, but have subtle differences which the discerning DJ would have to consider before deciding which is more appropriate to drop for the mood. The Extended version sets up a driving beat and a massive bassline which builds up a solid foundation to keep the track pumping. Male vocals pulse over this solid structure with quite a positive effect, as they compliment the track perfectly. This is definately the one to drop right at the peak of a progressive set where you just want the floor to explode.

The Dub version strips the track down to its foundations and allows it to stand in its primitive form. This gives us a very raw sound which would fit perfect in amongst a much darker progressive set. Less effects, less frills, and even more to the point than the Extended version. A definite late night/early morning favourite.

This gives us a much different sound to what we've come to expect from the Mantra Vibes label, but will definately be floating near the top of many darker progressive DJ's boxes.
