Out Now on Hope Recordings

Alex Dolby has been rising up in the ranks in recent years, culminating with his debut album, “Psiko Garden”, being released on the mighty Global Underground Recordings. Now Alex’s new track, “Long Beach”, released through Hope Recordings, is set to be featured on Nick Warren’s forthcoming “Global Underground 035: Lima” compilation.

“Long Beach” is the heavenly slice of progressive house that packs plenty of melody and dancefloor punch. Upon first hearing it, I instantly recalled Slam’s smashing “Azure” from last year. Much like that tune, “Long Beach” is propelled by a repetitive melody but what a glorious melody it is! This is exactly the kind of tune that Nick Warren would eat up and it should come as no surprise that it’s being released on his Hope Recordings imprint. While it does run a tad too long for such a simple tune, its glistening melody will keep ears and feet happy for the foreseeable future.

“Cairo” follows on the flipside and is a stark contrast to “Long Beach”. Much darker in nature, the house beat is a little deeper but once again Alex serves up a delicious melody for us to sink our teeth into. While the production is top notch, I would have liked to see some more tempo changes on this one as the darker nature of this track calls for it.

These are both solid tunes with “Long Beach” being the clear standout. Both should find plenty of favour from your favorite house DJ though and it’s apparent that Alex Dolby’s productions are a must in any dance music collection. Having already served up the massive “Hazy Way,” “Long Beach” should follow in that tune’s footsteps and become his latest smash single.
