Out Now on Shinichi Recordings

As a follow up to the very large “Resolve” released previously on the Yoshitoshi imprint, Airgap return to deliver the highly emotive “Fluz” alongside the deeply tough “Inside.” Airgap are Lewis Hopkin and Joe Hague of Devon, UK. Together they run Airgap Recordings and also produce/remix under the alias of Ortus. Hernan Cattaneo has been a big supporter of this track and master of the decks Danny Howells says it’s “one of their best productions to date.”

“Inside” is a soft journey into warm atmospheric landscapes. Ethereal vocal patterns, deep bass, and smooth beats make up this tracks essence while a beautiful melody delivers an inspirational performance. “Inside” is a deeply beautiful track that will get a lot of airplay on my systems. I know we are only fourteen days into the new year, but this is my top track of 2003 so far. It has unquestionably managed to touch my sweet spot.

Flip for “Flux”, Airgap’s tougher approach to this twelve-inch. The beat is punchy and forceful creating an energizing force for the listener. Just the right amount of ambience is applied in the distance of “Flux” giving it a spatial depth for the dance floor to wrap their heads around while their feet get a groove on. While “Inside” is my favorite off of this release, “Flux” is also a rock solid production worthy of any DJ set.

Shinichi continue to impress me with their releases. With last year releasing top quality productions by artists such as Holmes Ives, Gpal and Loudeast, and this year set to release hits by such artists as Behrouz and Chab, there leaves little doubt that Shinichi will reach each and every DJs record box before all is said and done.
