Against The Grain "Further"

Out Now on Screen Recordings

Against The Grain are a band comprised of Italians Diego Dari, the acclaimed Luca Ricci and vocalist Jane Kumuda. Already known for their tracks 'Seven' on Low Pressings and 'The Mask' which was the debut release on Screen Recordings, the trio combine song writing and production with traditional musical influences to create some emotional and heartfelt sounds. 'Further' is their latest single, sticking to this winning formula, but is undoubtedly their best track to date, remixed here by the superb Harry Lemon and Italian newcomers Andrea Cassino and Alex Laben.

'Lemon8' injects his usual pumping percussive style into his interpretation of 'Further', gorgeous guitar riffs and tight drum rolls invading a solid Inner Sanctuary style groove. The acoustic elements of the mix contribute to the overall mood perfectly as Jane Kumuda's powerful and evocative vocals are backed by soaring string sections that take this track right into the centre of the dancefloor, and beyond. Harry Lemon excels here, and this is without a doubt one of his best remixes to date, if not the best.

'Cassino & Laben' strip things down a touch, heading more for that cool late night vibe that fans of Sultan and Tone Depth's work will be so familiar with. Smooth grooves, live guitars and a subtle atmospheric backdrop are the key components of this solid reclined dub mix, and is one of those rare tracks that works well early or late within in a set, which compliments Harry Lemon's remix rather nicely indeed.

A stunning release from Screen Recordings, and if they can put out more material of this caliber in the future, this small Italian label will soon become a worldwide player in rather quick fashion.
