Lostep Feat Lior Attar "The Roots"

Luke Chable and Phil K are two djs and producers who have made a name for themselves down under and over recent months have been making more and more of an impact on the world dance scene with material they have worked on either individually or with artists such as Nu Breed, Andy Page, Ivan Gough and Jono Fernandez. Lo-Step marks the first time the duo have worked together without any other parties involved, but ´The Roots´ featuring Lior Attar proves that they aren´t ´dead weight´ in any collective production outfit, no sir, these men know how to rock you, and do they do so here, well let´s find out..

The a-side ´Original Mix´ sees Luke and Phil take no time in getting to work, a tough kickdrum hitting hard right from the offset. As emotive atmospherics rise from within the breakbeat arrangements, the pace slopes backward and a deep rumbling bassline echoes beneath the surface, fighting against the ethnic chants of vocalist Lior Attar. Pan Pipes add to the intensity of the mood and, as the track drops to singular beat , offering momentary respite before the dark bass and pounding beats drill back in once more, intent on caving your chest cavity before it ends. Pounding dark filth from the land down under.

For the b-side mix, Phil and Luke enlist their good friend Ivan Gough for a ´Dark Alley´ interpretation entitled the ´Grouse House Mix´, which takes a slightly more restained brooding approach to the track, minimal beats and deep atmospherics drawing us at the start, taking us through intricate rattlesnake percussion and acid beats, tapping deep into it´s ethnic roots for the latter half to add a slightly sinister and moody edge to this house mix. Twisted stuff indeed.

With a follow up Lo-Step single already completed entitled ´Burma´ and a third already underway, it looks like this new project of Phil K and Luke Chable will be a worthwhile addition to already impressive resumes of both artists.
