Suicide Sports Club "I Don't Know (Remixes)"

After an already hectic outing on the first disk, we have Soul Mekanik and Loose Cannons brought in to butter us up with even more remixes. Each one succeeds in taking Brancaccio & Aisher´s original version into new territory, and both disks put together give an incredibly solid package offering something for nearly everyone, no matter what style takes their fancy. While Soul Mekanik take a chilled house approach, Loose Cannons strip the track to the ground and re-build it with an interesting broken beat.

Kelvin & Danny of Soul Mekanik created waves with their debut album "81", and with their incredibly diverse background in the scene, they make a welcome addition to the remix collection of Suicide Sports Club. Keeping ´laid back´ in mind, the bassline is re-arranged, and a breezy house melody is brought in over the top. The vocal is left in tact to flow over the top, and the atmosphere has summer in mind and would go down excellently in a lounge type environment.

Loose Cannons have built up quite a following from their weekly show on Kiss to their impressive DJ sets performed at venues such as Harlem and Kinky Funk. For their mix provided here, they strip the track back to its roots and slice up the vocal, making use of only a portion of it. The beat has an interesting time structure which is neither here nor there, making it hard to pigeonhole. The tough bass riddled melody line pounds its way through the track, and makes for a highly interesting listening experience.

Two excellent mixes to complement the madness of the first disk, and for those after something slightly different this will be well received. It also proves that it is not just the original productions of "Suicide Sports Club" which push the envelope, but the remixes they take on board are equally as riveting. The future is only looking bright for these guys!
