Stryke "The Narrowest Of Paths (Remixes)"

Miami native, Stryke has been making music since the 1990´s with his first releases coming out on labels such as Adrenaline and the legendary Hooj Choons. His recent album, “The Narrowest Of Paths”, released last year confirmed he´s a musician of many talents, easily creating house, techno and everything in-between, while keeping his own simplistic and edgy style. This Remix EP to accompany the album features a few of dance music heaviest hitter´s like Skylark, Danny Howells and Oscar G which make this release on Plastic City a must have.

The duo of Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley, known as Skylark, make tunes for big rooms and their “Need U” remix is no exception. The kicking and chugging slappy groove is the backbone of the remix, while hypnotic voices and a chord stabs bring the mood. Added percussion like clicks, hats and claps fill the gaps as the housey vibe works into the break with a huge build and kick in that is as deep as it is groovy.

Oscar G is known for his thumpy, dirty tribal house grooves but here he changes it up and takes “I Dreamt Of You Again” into techno territory. Breakbeats start in as trippy soaring analog keys fade quickly into a heavy kick drum. An alarming sound steps in the mix while more percussion has the bottom end. A dirty bassline funks it up and it all drops at a very sweet and blissful breakdown. The mood changes and the synths are soft and melancholy before fading away and back into the chuggy groove again.

Danny Howells takes on “The Wish”. This beautiful and lush tune starts in with a low electro groove that works the bottom end perfectly. It rides up and down keys, while cool spaceship-like sounds accompany the rapidly growing beats. Stabs bring in the housey vibe while the sweeping pads cool it down and take it into just the beats and the bass. An analog acidy sound arrives and builds with the mood creating a fantastic ride through what progressive house may and should be.

Plastic City have a huge hit here with fantastic music by the very talented Stryke and the wonderful remixing talents of Skylark, Oscar G and Danny Howells.
