Sian "Skeleton"

SCI+TEC Digital Audio follow up from last month´s Timo Maas and Santos´s Mutant Clan release with another well respected techno artist, Sian, making his debut for the label. With a number of releases and remixes under his belt for labels such as Pokerflat, Karmarouge, Mule and Aus as well as those on his Octopus imprint, this release on SCI+TEC features two Sian originals and a remix courtesy of Mobilee artists Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix under their Pan-Pot guise.

‘Skeleton´, much in keeping with previous SCI+TEC releases, is another deep, slow building tech house track. It´s got all of the key elements needed to keep the floor moving along but without really ever catching fire. It´s more of a head nodder and as such an early set builder.

Pan-Pot serve up a harder, more stripped down techno edged version, which in contrast to the original, seems to catch the groove perfectly with a kick drum that cuts through the mix and minimal layers of sound working in unison. It´s the infectious 303 line that adds the essential funkiness and ensures that this mix will leave the dance floor well and truly exhilarated and asking for more!

‘Tornado Bait´ is a harder, more frenetic work out. A combination of pounding techno rhythms and a warped 303 driven acid line combining to ensure that this track won´t be for the faint hearted among you. Of the two Sian originals this one wins out with my vote.

For those of you out there of a techno persuasion you´ll find plenty on this release to keep you more than satisfied. It´s a well thought out release with the addition of a high quality remixer who probably just shades the original artist. SCI+TEC are delivering the kind of consistency as a label that´s hard to ignore ensuring every release warrants attention.
